Friday Faves, March 30th

30 Mar

friday-faves-March-30

1 :: Shirt-dresses are perfect for the spring/summer weather, especially when you’re heading to the beach. Fun birds and a casual peachy color make the Perch Things First dress from ModCloth a great pick.

2 :: Panna Cotta (and Flan in general) can certainly be a hit-or-miss, but I’m willing to take a chance on this Coconut Panna Cotta from Inspring the Everyday (especially with the beautiful fresh figs as a garnish).

3 :: Yes, I am a bit of a sucker for anything that Rifle Paper Company creates. But how can I not share the gorgeous new spring line? I love the idea of postcards for thank you notes–a little less formal but still thoughtful and smile-inducing.

4 :: We don’t drink a lot of non-twist-off soda, but when we do, I’d love to pop the top with this sweet Goodly Whale bottle opener. It would also be a great groomsman or Father’s Day gift!

5 :: I love necklaces that mix textures, especially when some of them are pearlized. The Sweetest Days pearl necklace from hazelnutcottege is polished, but not too refined. It’d be a simple addition to a fresh spring dress.

6 :: Easter is nearly here, and if you’re a fan of sharing Easter Baskets or other such goodies, you can furnish it with this Origami “Hoppy Easter” bunny tag from Eat, Drink, Chic.

Happy Weekend!

Friday Faves, January 28

28 Jan

1 :: The Morning Hour Dress from ModCloth is perfect for layering over tights, then wearing in the spring with sandals. Plus, the solid color is a great base to dress up with color. Best of all? It’s on sale!

2 :: I found this American travel map DIY on Design*Sponge. It’s an older project, but would be so much fun as you start to plan your travels for the year. You can also use it to pinpoint all of the places you’ve visited.

3 :: These fun mid-century tumblers from 5gardinias have such a sparkly mix of foliage and brushed shapes!

4 :: I’ve been enjoying lots of apples lately, and with the continued cold, I want to bake them all! This Mom’s Baked Apple Slices from SimplyRecipes adds a little bit of maple syrup in to really bring out the sweetness (without too much sugar).

5 :: The desk stationary from Dear Hancock is brilliant! There are a number of different desks that fit creative interests (crafty, photography, etc.), as well as a custom one that you can design yourself.

6 :: Even though my wedding was quite a while ago, I’m still excited about the announcement of Anthropologie’s new wedding brand: BHLDN. The site will be launching on February 14th, so be sure to check out the incredibly beautiful things they’re sure to have.

Friday Faves: Memorial Day

28 May

Friday Faves, May 28

1 :: Add a fun splash of Memorial Day red to your day with this cherry pie chrysanthemum ring from Illy’s Etsy Shop.

2 :: Now that so many spring gardens are bursting with herbs, find a hundred ways to use them up with Martha’s favorite herb recipes.

3 :: This mock two-piece cabana dress from Old Navy is bright and comfy with fun nautical stripes.

4 :: Wondering what to do with that drink caddy from your weekend limeade stop? Make it into a sweet box full of flowers with this fun DIY from Dandee Designs (includes a free printable banner).

5 :: I discovered the Let’s Colour Project earlier this week and it made my day. The breathtaking music video (with the song “Go Do” by Jonsi) is absolutely stunning and every shot is filled with the actual people who painted the cities.

6 :: Travel + Patriotic Red & Blue = The perfect stationary on which to write about your Memorial Day weekend. This airmail letter set from Present&Correct comes complete with vintage labels and handprinted tags.

Friday Faves

30 Apr

Happy Friday! Here are a few fun things from the interweb that have made me smile this week:

1 :: From Me to You is a captivating blog from NYC photographer Jamie Beck. Her photos are filled with stories and the blog design itself is incredibly detailed.

2 :: I’m really excited about making these homemade pop tarts from Smitten Kitchen. Mr. Jones is a big fan of pop tarts, but he only gets them on trips because I never buy them at home (you don’t even want to know what’s in them). I’ll be sure to do a post on how they turn out!

3 :: My father and brother-in-law recently bought some chicks and they are growing fast! I’m going to help them build a coop soon and am looking forward to some of their tasty eggs (or, to be honest, some free-range chicken if they don’t lay enough). Making it Lovely just featured some stylish and fun chicken coops–mostly out of my price range, but great inspiration!

4 :: Speaking of “out of my price range,” I could never afford this Kate Spade dress, but its polka dots and ruffles are splendid! I’d love to wear this while enjoying the lighter weather of May.

5 :: Mother’s Day is coming up, which means a crop of fun new cards. I went to college with the talented Anna Bond and am always excited to see her new illustrations. This Mother’s Day card is just one of the charming pieces of stationery from her shop, be sure to check them all out!

6 :: If you’re in the mood for a DIY project this weekend, Dried Figs and Wooden Spools just did a great how to on making over your trash can. Simple and cheap!

My plans for the weekend include a trip to the farmer’s market, helping Caleb set up an electric racing track for the Awana Grand Prix on Sunday, and a birthday party for one of the sweetest one-year-olds I know. Happy last day of April!

Cap and Gown Cards

25 Apr

Tomorrow my brother graduates from Eastern Michigan University (congrats, Phil!). Since we’re in the cap and gown mood over here, I thought I’d do a little roundup of  fun cards for the graduate in your life.
