1 :: The Cathedral Heights Crochet Applique Dress from Ruche is a great addition to your holiday wardrobe. Dress it up with a cranberry colored cardigan or fun tights, and you’re set for holiday shopping or dinner out.

2 :: If you’ve been assigned to bring something sweet to Thanksgiving dinner, mix it up with this pear cranberry and gingersnap crumble from Smitten Kitchen. Just the thought of this combination makes my mouth water!

3 :: When you see a deeply discounted cookie rack on black Friday, don’t pass it up–use it to make this grand, oversized fabric chandelier.

4 :: I’m loving the loose, informal style of Jenni Sparks. It inspires me to doodle more (and make my notes more interesting).

5 :: If you haven’t been to FakeAnything.com, it’s time to check it out. The site showcases user-submitted fake ads, products, and news from television and movies. My favorites are Misty Manley’s lovingly designed items from 30 Rock and Arrested Development.

6 :: Narwhals, narwhals, living in the ocean…even before the infamous YouTube video, narwhals have had a special place in my heart. When I saw this vintage glass narwhal ornament from Anthropologie, I knew I had to add it to our tree.

1 :: The Set a President dress from ModCloth is simple but smart. Perfect for a wedding, a special summer date, or even just a trip to the library!

2 :: Mr. Jones got me an amazing ice cream maker for my birthday, so I’ve been making ice cream like crazy. Peach ice cream is my absolute favorite, and I’m really looking forward to trying this Honey Peach Ice Cream from Ezra Pound Cake.

3 :: If you’re like me, you have lots of new babies (and new moms) to celebrate with this summer. Wrap your gift in something special by following this fabric wrapping DIY from Inchmark Journal.

4 :: I love birds, and they were a big part of our wedding theme. Though our anniversary is still a ways off, this Vintage Lovebirds necklace from The Vintage Pearl would make a lovely gift (hint hint!).

5 :: Owen Gatley’s style is calculated but fun. I love the care and detail he takes in his illustrations, while making them seem effortless. His maps are especially whimsical!

6 :: Now that I’m deep into beach season, and I’d love to trade up my worn Taget beach bag for this sweet and simple sailor tote from Bayan Hippo. It’s big enough to hold all the essentials, but nice enough to use as a regular tote bag once the beach sand has left my feet!

1 :: This Creme Daisy Applique dress from Top Shop would be great on a date (say, Valentine’s Day?) with a wrap or sweater and tights, but it’ll also transition nicely in to warmer weather.

2 :: Sunday is the Superbowl (in case you didn’t know), so it’s time to start rounding up some recipes for munching (and avoid buying the case of frozen quesadillas). Pioneer Woman’s Beef Fajita Nachos look incredibly tasty and will definitely keep hungry tv-watchers’ appetites at bay.

3 :: I’m loving this fun promo film from House Industries. They own some of my favorite typefaces, along with a bevy of smartly designed objects and posters. The sign painting and lettering shown in this film blows my mind–I don’t know how they do it!

4 :: If I could put just one thing on my Valentine’s Day wish list, it would be this I Love My City print from Judy Kaufmann. Her illustrations are beautiful, and this print is by far my favorite.

5 :: If you’re looking for a fun DIY project to add a little charming fun to your decor, these coffee filter pom poms from Creature Comforts are perfect! Cheap, simple, and easy–they also make great gift toppers.

6 :: The days are slowly starting to get longer, but there’s still lots of evening darkness floating around (even here in the Sunshine State). Say “Goodnight, Moon” with this embroidered wall art from Jenn Pierce. Her embroidered pieces really make me want to try my hand at embroidery!

Friday Faves, Friends Edition!

November 11 Friday Faves

I have some incredibly talented friends, so this week I’m doing my first special “Friends Edition” of Friday Faves.

1 :: Anna is an amazing stylist all around–from hair and makeup to her fun etsy shop, Shotgun Vintage. She’s got a great eye for vintage finds, like these Lucite metallic flower pumps. So pretty!

2 :: Emily and her sweet daughter modeling one of her Hipster Slings. She makes them out of lightweight (but strong) organic fabrics, and they have a special concealed, zippered pocket to keep your keys or phone. If you know a pregnant momma, these make an awesome shower gift!

3 :: One of my original Supper Club ladies, Jen is also a fellow real food blogger. She and her husband recently moved to their dream farm in Vermont, and I love living vicariously through her blog, The Leftover Queen. She always features super tasty recipes, like these Coconut Flour Pancakes.

4 :: I’ve really enjoyed watching my brother, Philip, sharpen his talent for photography and videography over the years. He recently shot this short feature with Single Barrel Detroit on the hanging gardens project at Forest Arms, a building in Detroit that was devastated by fire. They ended the project with a rooftop concert by The Juliets (above). He’s moving from Detroit to LA soon and I’m so excited to see what projects he’ll be involved with next!

5 :: My brother also happens to be dating Angela, who is a fabulous artist (and a pretty groovy gal). She does some amazing hand-lettering and illustrations, like this fun piece, “The Heart is on the Left.”

6 :: My friend and co-worker Caitlin creates the coolest dream catcher and African trade bead necklaces over at Feather & Webb. Her shop is always being updated with tribal-inspired (and some not-so-tribal-inspired) vintage items, and her blog is chock-full of inspiration.

Friday Faves October 21

1 :: What’s better than beautiful watercolor illustration? This beautiful MOTOWN watercolor illustration from UK artist Abigail McKenzie

2 :: Two of my very talented friends, Amy and Meredith, just launched The Conservatorie. It’s a floral and event design company located right here in St. Augustine. Their work is incredible–I love the mix of textures, vintage materials and florals that they use!

3 :: I’ve gradually become a sucker for yellow clothing, and this Posh Peasant Tee from Anthropologie is the perfect autumn shade.

4 :: The weather is definitely getting chillier, which always makes me crave warm, filling food. These Savory Wheat Biscuits from Stephanie at Girl Versus Dough look toasty and oh-so-delicious.

5 :: I always get excited when Design*Sponge releases new city design guides (I’ve used the ones for Detroit, Miami and NYC and they’re great). I was extra thrilled when they released one for Ann Arbor (Michigan), another wonderful town near where I grew up. Check it out, and if you’re going to be in the area, definitely use the guide!

6 :: Paper Crave has been posting tons of free Halloween downloads and printables. One of my favorites is this free Halloween banner from Jeanie at The Paper Nut. Such fun illustrations and I love the colors!

3 :: Loving the simplicity and bright color of the tiny windows dress from Anthropologie.

4 :: Illustrator Clayton Junior has fun, geometrical work that is simply genius.

5 :: The Ardent Sparrow has loads of delicate, vintage-styled jewelry. This semi-charmed kind of life necklace is one of my favorites.

6 :: Check out Wren and Chikadee’s new shop, full of all sorts of beautiful photography–like this Baker’s Delight print.

1 :: Brand new whimsical illustration from Clare Owen. I would love to see an animated, movie-credit version of this piece.

2 :: Can’t wait to try the winning waffle recipe from Orangette (there’s actually two, yum)!

3 :: This Fancy Clothespin DIY from EZ at Creature Comforts is really simple and a great way to dress up your clothespins.

4 :: Just discovered the incredibly talented group at Domestic Construction. They do all sorts of design/decor/exterior work and it’s downright inspiring. This dining room is from a yoga retreat in upstate New York.

5 :: I’m pretty sure Joan from Mad Men wore this dress at least once. Only one more month until the show returns again on July 25!

6 :: The folks at Fresh Heifers create original, vintage-inspired dairy designs and then letterpress them into beautiful works of art.
