Friday Faves – August 20th

Friday Faves August 20th

1 :: I recently discovered the very affordable and delightfully trendy online shop Ruche, thanks to my friend Kelly (check out her and her husband Ryan’s amazing photography site). She posted this coffee shop dress the other day and I think it’s perfectly fabulous.

2 :: Christine from the famous maganda.org just started a new blog called BRUNCH. I love her writing style and bright photos. Her chopped mexican salad recipe is a great way to finish out the summer.

3 :: Okay, I admit it–I’m a little obsessed with succulents. They’re modern, fun, cheap and easy to care for. Needless to say, browsing through the SucculentsGalore Etsy shop makes me smile (and want to cover my entire patio in succulents).

4 :: I love Susy Jack, and I really, really love it when she posts free printables. If your friends are anything like mine, August is chock-full of birthdays–so this free printable birthday card will come in mighty handy.

5 :: Alice Melvin is one supremely talented illustrator. She also brainstorms some really fun projects that combine paper, scissors, and her lovely drawings. Her Cut Out and Make Mobile requires nothing more than scissors and string to produce charming birds (via Mint Design Blog).

6 :: Sherri and John over at Young House Love post some of my favorite home decor DIYs–easy, inexpensive, and super-cool. These corkboard vases are a great addition to a kitchen or office and a quick way to incorporate some texture into a room.

Friday Faves – July 16th

July 16th Friday Faves

1 :: Amanda Soule is always a big inspiration to me, especially when it comes to knitting and craft projects. I really want to make this Oatmeal Sweater before it starts getting chilly (so that gives me until November or so, right?).

2 :: I missed out on blueberry picking this year, but for those of you up north (or if you have something else to can), check out this awesome canning party idea from Cottage Industrialist and Paper Crave. There are free printable downloads for some really fun invitations, labels and recipe cards.

3 :: Grain Edit just did a great interview with Jason Munn from The Small Stakes. His design is clean and modern, but with a nice jab of humor.

4 :: I’ve never felt like I had the “scarf-tying” thing down, but now I might finally figure it out! In this short video from Lucky Magazine, they take you through a number of different ways to tie a scarf.

5 :: As soon as I saw this recipe for Shrimp Scampi Pizza from Shutterbean, my mouth started watering. It’s very similar to some incredible shrimp bruschetta I had from The French Pantry here in Jax. This would also make a great summer party appetizer.

6 :: Breezy and light is the main thing I’m looking for in clothing right now, and this Orangette dress from Jenny and V’s Etsy shop is exactly that.

1 :: I’ve been wanting to start painting with watercolors again, and these popsicle cards from FineDayPress are a great inspiration.

2 :: It’s sold out now, but hopefully Katie Daisy will do a reprint of her “Wild Air” print. Check out her site for some more incredible illustration work.

3 :: This house tour from Design*Sponge featuring Jack and Lulu’s house features their amazing home office. I love the vintage desk chairs and pops of bright green.

4 :: For those breezy summer days at the beach, it’s always fun to have a pinwheel. This step-by-step pinwheel DIY from Style Me Pretty includes a free printable download. Try making a few and putting them in a flower pot for some fab front porch decor.

5 :: I’m finally wanting more skirts in my closet, especially as the days get hotter. ModCloth has a pretty wide selection, and I love this Shades of Summer skirt. It’s got just enough of a “fiesta” feeling without being too crazy.

6 :: I have a bunch of eggs in my fridge right now, and I think they’re going to head to the oven in this Herb Frittata from Nourished Kitchen. Simple, quick, and a great big breakfast!
